Tap tempo. No ads, no cost, ever.
Tap anywhere on the screen along to a beat. The app tells you the tempo in beats per minute. Tap a few more times and it tightens up. That's the whole idea.
Tap the screen in time with the music. After two taps you'll see a number. It keeps refining as you continue, weighting your most recent taps most heavily, so if you settle into the groove after a few beats the reading follows you. Stop for a couple of seconds and the next tap starts a fresh measurement.
Tap Click to hear the tempo you just found. It plays at your current BPM and re-syncs immediately if you tap out a new one. The click mixes with other audio rather than interrupting it, so you can run it alongside a recording.
The three buttons above the controls jump straight to a set tempo. Useful as reference points, or as a starting place before you adjust by ear.
Clears the current reading and stops the metronome.
Yes. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases, no paid tier, no account. It was built because tap tempo is a trivially simple tool that shouldn't cost anything.
No. Nothing at all. See the privacy policy — it is short.
Tapping accuracy is the usual cause. Try tapping through at least four or five beats and letting the number settle. Very fast tempos are easier to measure by tapping every other beat and doubling the result.
That's deliberate. The app keeps the display awake while it's open so you don't have to wake the phone mid-rehearsal. Leaving the app restores your normal auto-lock behavior.
Yes. It runs on iPhone and iPad, in portrait orientation.
